Live the Question Now!

enough21

As you can tell Rainier Maria Rilke has had a big influence on the way that I see and live through life. When reading “Letters to Young Poet” I often feel that he was speaking directly to me. It is a book that has not only opened my eyes to the possibility of what I can and will become but also how I should be viewing the world around me to experience the most and get the most out of what life has to offer. Every time I read this book I gain a new insight and I am thankful that I have this forum in which to share his words and my journey with you.

Another one of Rilke’s insights is about living the questions now. He writes “Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer. Perhaps you do carry within you the possibility of creating and forming, as an especially blessed and pure way of living; train yourself for that but take whatever comes, with great trust, and as long as it comes out of your will, out of some need of your innermost self, then take it upon yourself, and don’t hate anything.”

There is so much to gain in life when you allow yourself to live the question. What if I did this? What if I tried that? What if I don’t like it? What if I do like it? What would happen if? Stop living a life just asking questions and using the lack of answer as a roadblock or an excuse as why you are not living life. Live the question. Say yes to life and all that it has to offer. When you allow yourself to live the question, the answer that you seek will present itself when you are ready to hear it. Understand the questions that you ask and the answers that you seek, but know the only way to truly get from one to the other is to live. Life is a great teacher. Learn all you can about yourself and the world around you by living everyday with question and wonderment and soon you will realize, the answer was never as important and the journey.
